Orientation. ONE word: boring.
talk after talk... academic course registrations, fees, international student association, dean talk, police talk, culture pop quiz. everyone is so darn clique-ish with the pple in their same country - like hello, this is an exchange.. but once in a while u immerse yourself into them, they prob havent really explored the neighbourhood much as well.
makes our junior college/university orientation seem world-class. after a while all the admin stuff annoys me cos they are so inefficient in everything.
Health checkup
- queue up to get the form
- fill in the forms
- queue up in another queue again to show them
- after showing them, join another queue to register on the computer
- then go up to ANOTHER floor to join another queue to pay
- come back down and join another queue to wait for the nurse.
- scolded by the nurse for asking for another time slot -.-
wth.
matriculation
- go to the ID centre (~7min walk away) to make your ID
- come back to the office, queue up with all your documents and fill up a form
- one lady comes by and checks your forms, and they suddenly said new requirement to photocopy visa
- walked another 10min to the bloody bookshop to photocopy visa (freaking 11cents USD for one piece! omg)
- walked back another 10min to the office (it seems short but its actually pretty far, in the HOT HOT sun)
- re-queue. everything is so darn slow cos it's not computerised.
- repeat this 2 times, cos there's stage 2 of registration.
that was THE END of the orientation.
ytd went for movie by the beach. it was the most beautiful weather and beach ever. but forgot to take my camera with me :(
over here, pple call me young lady.
when i go to the car mechanic, he said "come over here young lady, i need to go through this with you".
had to leave the car overnight there, so they had complimentary ride home. "ok, now i need to send this young lady over here home"
so funny. it feels so much better than being called, "come over here MAM"
and its only nice to hear cos of their deep deep strong american accent.
hollywood today? hmm
